Summer Wellness: The Power of Grounding and Earthing for Better Health

Why Ground?

Grounding, or earthing, is when the body has direct contact to the ground – reconnecting the human body, a conductive entity, to the earth’s natural yet subtle electric charge. This includes walking barefoot on grass, humid soil or other conductive surfaces. Another way to achieve the benefit of earthing is through Earthing systems (conductive mats, pads or patches). It’s a bonus if you can get outside early in the day, natural light in the morning can help regulate your sleep-wake cycles, known as your circadian rhythm.

As we enjoy the height of summer, it's the perfect time to embrace the benefits of grounding and earthing. Take advantage of the warm weather by spending more time outdoors, whether you're walking barefoot on the grass, lounging in the park, or simply relaxing in your backyard. This simple practice can help you stay connected to the earth's energy, boosting your mood, reducing inflammation, and supporting overall well-being. Get outside, soak up the sun, and feel the earth beneath your feet

How it Works:

Grounding happens through a transfer of electrons (negatively charged particles) from the earth to your body, resulting in a more balanced electrical charge of your body – we are electrical beings after all, our nerve impulses and body functions require energy transfer.

Through cellular processes, our bodies naturally produce a positive charge, this is good as it contributes to adaptation, however, if we have too much it can contribute to inflammation. This inflammation can present itself in many ways, such as a reduced resilience to stress, pain,

Benefits:

Earthing has a powerful effect on reducing inflammation and related pain, including that associated with DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) after exercise, (3) it is shown to accelerate the immune response, (2) and even improve circulation (3). Other benefits include a reduction in stress, improvement in mood, sleep, and an increase in energy.

Add earthing into your healthcare regime and see the benefits for yourself! We’d love to hear about your experience!
